Kangaroo Care!!!!

Around 5:30 yesterday afternoon, Lindsay and I went back to the NICU to see Alyssa. Lindsay was given the opportunity for some Kangaroo Care time, which basically means that the baby lies in her diaper on Lindsay's bare chest. The direct skin-to-skin contact allows for bonding time between Mom and baby, helps calm the baby down because she can hear Mom's heartbeat, keeps the baby warm, and also helps stimulate the breast milk in Lindsay.

Just prior to arriving at the NICU, Lindsay had had a busy day and was in quite a bit of pain. She was determined to get there, however, and once she was settled in with Alyssa, you could immediately see her pain had disappeared!

Lindsay is able to do this once a day while Alyssa remains in the Level III NICU. I can guarantee you, she won't be missing a day!!
